Operation of facilities primarily for the purposes of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology of Mendel University in Brno.

The institute provides teaching mainly of hardware oriented subjects in all degree programmes, i.e. bachelor, master and doctoral programmes. The scientific research activities of the institute include the architecture of technical and software means of embedded systems.

The department provides teaching of courses in the Master's degree in Information Systems, which includes the areas of programming, formal languages and compilers, database and information systems, computer networks or Internet applications. In addition, it also offers courses in the doctoral programme in Information Technology.

The department teaches courses in the Master's degree program in Computer Graphics and Multimedia, which includes in its content the principles of computer graphics and multimedia, speech signal processing, and human-computer communication interfaces. The Bachelor's degree programme in Information Technology offers.

The faculty provides teaching in the areas of regional development and regional sciences, public administration as well as economics and territorial marketing.

The institute provides instruction in English, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, German, French and Czech for both Czech and international students. In the field of cultural studies, the institute provides instruction in cultural heritage.

The institute provides teaching in the field of environmental science and natural resources.

The faculty provides teaching of Sociology, Social Psychology, Regional Sociology, Managerial Psychology, Intercultural Psychology and Political Science in both Czech and English.

The faculty provides instruction in area studies. Courses in Czech and English are available.

The institute provides instruction in regional and business economics.

Organisation of courses in forensic and risk engineering, expert witness and technical expertise. The studio also offers a doctoral program in forensic engineering in both full-time and combined forms of study. The Institute organises courses in forensic engineering and publishes the journal Forensic Engineering.

The department is dedicated to the training of aviation specialists with a university degree.

The Institute is involved in teaching courses in the Bachelor of Chemistry and Food Technology programme. Within this programme, it offers the study programme Biotechnology and Food Chemistry. Students have the option of continuing on to a follow-up Master's degree programme. The Institute also provides a PhD programme.
