It manages the gaming machines, contractual relations, immovable and movable property of the city. It handles transfers and conveyances of municipal property. It administers local taxes, registers and recovers debts.

The department provides environmental protection. It takes care of the citywide registration of green areas. Manages municipal waste charges. Deals with waste management issues. Handles environmental applications.

The department administers taxes and local fees, assessment, collection and enforcement of local fees, permitting of slot machines, records and leases arising from the use of grave sites, and accounting for all departments in the state and municipal government.

Performs state administration according to the Building Act and relevant implementing legislation. Performs construction supervision. Initiates proceedings for offences and other administrative offences. Deals with numbering of buildings and names of streets and public spaces.

Care for disabled citizens and social protection of children. We deal with minority issues. We keep records of the city's property in the field of health and social affairs.

The Department provides for the operation of technical services, cemetery management, housing and non-residential premises management, the course of execution of community service sentences, the management of residential buildings owned by the city, the management and operation of waste collection sites and the management of public lighting.

The department provides certification of signatures and documents, requests for an extract from the criminal register, keeping and administration of civil registers, registration of births, marriages, deaths in civil registers, processing of documents for registration of civil events outside the republic for the Special Registry Office Brno and weddings in the civil registry district.

The Department of the Environment carries out the exercise of state administration under delegated powers in the fields of waste management, water management, air protection, nature and landscape protection and protection of the agricultural land fund.

The Department issues decisions on the location of buildings, planning consents, consents for notified buildings, building permits, conducts relevant proceedings, authorises changes to buildings and changes of use of buildings, as well as authorises the use and removal of buildings.
