The first written report dates back to 1346. Among the most important monuments is the church of St. James the Greater. We organise various cultural and social events.

We run a volunteer firefighters' association.

Our village consists of 5 local parts: Nová Ves, Nové Ouholic, Staré Ouholic, Veprek and Miřejovice. There are 1034 inhabitants in the territory. In the village there is a kindergarten, a post office, a library, a grocery store and hospitality facilities. The municipality is run by the municipal office, which provides Czech POINT services.
