We are involved in the inspection of feed, soil and plant nutrition or animal production. We have laboratories to carry out chemical analyses. We focus on organic farming controls and issue exemptions for the use of conventional seeds and seedlings. We organise seminars and issue professional publications.

We carry out archaeological and anthropological excavations. We provide a comprehensive service in archaeological excavations, conservation of archaeological heritage and engage in scientific research in archaeology and related fields.

We ensure the performance of state administration in the field of hallmarking and testing of precious metals. We carry out hallmarking inspections of goods made of precious metals or inspections of manufacturers and traders of precious metal products. We impose penalties for defects found.

The Institute is devoted to research on fruit crops grown in the Czech Republic as cash crops. We also focus on the conservation of the gene pools of fruit crops, the study of the effect of rootstocks on grafted varieties, the development of methods of biological and integrated conservation of fruit trees and fruit planting projects.
