We are engaged in applied research and development aimed at expanding knowledge and developing practical means useful in the field of radiation protection and protection against chemical and biological agents misused as weapons of mass destruction.

The Hydrobiological Station, which was established in 1924 in the building of the former farmhouse by Prof. Karel Schäffern, is a detached workplace of the Faculty of Science. Its establishment was a continuation of Prof. Fritz's "flying" station founded in 1988, which was one of the oldest such stations in Europe.
