The first written report dates back to 1497. The village is located at an altitude of 264 metres. The village has a tourist hostel, a convenience store, a sports complex or a kindergarten and a primary school from 1st to 3rd grade.
Operation of the volunteer fire brigade. The fire brigade protects the lives, health and property of citizens from fires, floods and other emergencies, and provides technical assistance.
A town of approximately 2300 inhabitants. Part of the territory falls within the Krkonoše National Park. Tourists and families with children can visit a family area with a bobsleigh run, a ski resort, a swimming pool or a golf course. There is a health centre, fire brigade, primary and kindergarten and a post office.
