The first written mention of the village dates back to 1312. 200 inhabitants live here. The village is a tourist starting point to the Klokočské Skály and the ruins of Rotštejn Castle.

The village has a kindergarten or primary school, a library, a community church, a sokolovna, a swimming pool, a forest park, a transport playground and a leisure centre. There are also four shops, four pubs and three cemeteries.
