The first written report dates back to 1292. The village is situated at an altitude of 390 metres. There is water supply, gas supply and more. In the village there is also a volunteer fire brigade, Czech Tourist Club, Doveda Theatre Association and others.

We run a state primary school for 220 pupils with a day care and dining room. We offer literature and drama, physical education, sports and religious clubs. We offer flute lessons. We run a choir. We organize various trips, nature walks, concerts and excursions.

The library is part of the community centre building. Books are renewed from the book fund in cooperation with the library in Ústí nad Orlicí.

We run a kindergarten for 50 children with a canteen. We provide swimming training. There are two classes in our school with a capacity of 25 children. The classes are age heterogeneous, i.e. with children from three to seven years old. According to the established criteria, pre-school children and children of employed mothers are given priority in the admission of children.
