The first written report dates back to 1365. The village is located at an altitude of 485 metres. The village has a community centre, a children's playground and a volleyball court.

The Forest Club Houbička, z. s. organizes and operates a forest club with a full-day stay in nature inspired by the philosophy of forest kindergartens and create a space for children and parents to stay in a harmonious relationship and in harmony with nature and natural cycles.

The City Hall provides comprehensive state and local government services for its residents and neighboring municipalities. The local government oversees the development of urban infrastructure, education, culture, and tourism, and annually organizes major national events, such as the famous Chodské slavnosti—the St. Lawrence Fair.
