The first written report dates back to 1253. The village is located at an altitude of 492 metres. We organize Bartholomew's Pilgrimage and other cultural and social events.

The local government oversees the development of urban infrastructure, education, culture, and tourism, and annually organizes major national events, such as the famous Chodské slavnosti—the St. Lawrence Fair.
