The first written report dates back to 1239. The village is situated at an altitude of 507 metres. There are 32 inhabitants.

The City Hall provides comprehensive state and local government services for its residents and neighboring municipalities. The local government oversees the development of urban infrastructure, education, culture, and tourism, and annually organizes major national events, such as the famous Chodské slavnosti—the St. Lawrence Fair.
