We implement a conceptual policy of science and research, we are included in national and international research programs, we support cooperation with the application sphere and the development of education and culture.

We run an institute focusing on the theory and history of Czech literature from the earliest period to the present. We provide basic research on Czech literature in linguistic and territorial delimitation. We focus on literary history, theory of literature, research on literary culture or literary lexicography.

Collecting and processing the records of the Academy of Sciences, the archival holdings of previous scientific institutions and the written estates of scientists.
