Muzeum Novojičínska branches

The museum organises exhibitions, expositions and cultural events, operates specialist workplaces, publishes publications and provides information about the history and cultural heritage of the Novojičín region.

The museum's exhibitions remind us of the ancient times and especially of the inhabitants who lived in the vicinity of Kotouč Hill. They can also walk through the replica of the Arrow Cave, which is a copy of a real cave located just outside the museum. Gallery exhibitions will be held on the floor above the permanent exhibition.

The current exposition of the museum (formerly called the Tatra Technical Museum) consists of a typologically compact collection of passenger cars, with which the Tatra automobile company made its mark in the world history of automotive engineering in the 20th century.

Organization of exhibitions. The museum's professional interest in the field of ethnography, especially in folk art, the history of handicraft and mechanical weaving and dyeing, emigration, and cultural, social and artistic life defines its position in the Frenštát region.

The museum was opened on 17 November 2021 in the reconstructed building of the former Tatra foundry and presents a unique collection of 81 Tatra trucks and chassis on an area of more than 5,000 m2. The core is the original collection of Jiří Hlach, a private collector, which Tatra acquired in 2015.

Cetrat is an experimental workplace where traditional, often extinct production methods of processing natural materials are researched and reconstructed, and the outputs of this research are presented through exhibitions, thematic programmes and publications.

The chateau was built in 1726-34 by the famous Austrian architect J. L. von Hildebrandt as a country residence of the Harrach family. The period of its greatest prosperity is associated with Countess Maria Walburga, who founded a modern educational institute here, whose pupil was also František Palacký.

The Slovak Strela Depository is a unique place where the legendary Slovak Strela engine set is exhibited. It can be found opposite the entrance to the Tatra Truck Museum in Kopřivnice.

The Birthplace of František Palacký offers a permanent exhibition dedicated to the life and work of this important historian and politician, together with the history of the village of Hodslavice, where Palacký was born.

The museum in Fulnek, dedicated to Jan Amos Komenský, presents the personality of Jan Amos as a priest, church administrator, townsman, preacher and legend of Fulnek. Interactive elements are used to present his world on the threshold of the Thirty Years' War, when he moved to Fulnek.

Baroque castle built by Karl Josef Vetter von der Lilie around 1742, rebuilt after a fire in 1857 according to the plans of Kaspar Karlseder.

Žerotín Chateau has permanent exhibitions focused on the history of the town and the production of hats. It also organizes short-term exhibitions, cultural events, educational programs and various lectures throughout the year.
