The seat of the Bohemian monarchs, the seat of the chapter, a preserved Baroque fortress with long and dark casemates, the final resting place of Bohemian greats. This charming site with a distinctive genius loci invites visitors to the park, permanent exhibitions and cultural events in the Old Purkrabstvo.

In the information centre at the Leopold Gate you can buy tickets for the sightseeing tours, ask about the current programme or buy souvenirs and unique merchandise of the Vyšehrad National Park.

The brick gate was built in the Empire style in 1841 in connection with the construction of the new road through Vyšehrad. It was on the initiative of the governor of Prague, Karel Chotek. The gate consists of a passage and two pedestrian passages, which are supplemented on the sides by the guardhouse

The section of the casemates between Cihelna Gate and Gorlice is part of the tour Kasematy a Gorlice and Guided tours on request. The Martin Casemates are only available as part of the Baroque Fortress tour according to the current programme.

The Tábor Gate, today's entrance to the Vyšehrad area in the direction of Pankrác or Vyšehrad metro station, was built around 1640 to guard the access road to the Prague suburb from southern Bohemia via Tábor and Benešov.

An outdoor theatre venue seating up to 360 people located on the site of a former artillery redan. The summer stage is open weather permitting, according to the current programme, from May to September.

A children's programme is held in the hall every weekend. We offer mainly fairy tale theatre performances, art workshops. On weekdays it is also possible to book a morning educational programme for school groups. More information can be found on our website.

The exhibition The Rise and Fall of Vyšehrad reveals the transformation of the royal district at Vyšehrad - from the seat of the first Czech king and symbol of the monarchical power, through a military fortress to a spiritual and national symbol.
