The Ministry is the central state administration authority in the following matters: regional policy, housing policy, spatial planning, building regulations, expropriation, tourism, real estate, funeral and public auctions.

The Department ensures the performance of the functions of the central administrative authority in matters of spatial planning, with the exception of issues of spatial decision-making, including the exercise of state supervision.

The Ministry of Regional Development is responsible for supervising the activities of auctioneers and controlling compliance with the Public Auctions Act. The MMR staff carries out the control either directly at auctions or by on-line access during electronic auctions.
