The first written report dates back to 1300. The village is situated at an altitude of 254 metres. There are 1915 inhabitants. It is dominated by the Church of St. Catherine, the statue of Immaculata and St. John of Nepomuk. Among the notable natives is Bishop Karel Otčenášek from Hradec Králové.
