The village is located approx. halfway between Ch. Budejovice and Č. Krumlov. The first written mention dates back to 1375. Near the settlement Dolní Svince there is the former pond Počátek, the first work of Jakub Krčín. The fortress Štěkře and the settlement Čertyně are also among the attractions.
