The first written report dates back to 1270. The village is located at an altitude of 365 metres. Many clubs and associations are active in the village. The village also offers a wide range of sports activities in the Sports Complex or cultural events in the Myslivna or Pod Skalkou complex. The main cultural centre of the village is the Cultural House.

Local library services. The book collection is diverse and consists of approximately 2700 books.

The library in Nová Ves is equipped with computer technology and internet access, since 2015 the library has been using the Clavius library program. Younger readers have access to a tablet, board games or crayon drawings.
