The first written report dates back to 1267. The village is located at an altitude of 470 metres. The village is situated in the Zlatohorské vrchovina in the foothills of Hrubý Jeseník. Nearby is the Biskupská kupa mountain with a lookout tower and the ruins of Edlštejn Castle.
