The archive is a traditional memory institution that receives, permanently preserves, professionally processes and makes available the documents of all Czechoslovak and Czech presidents and their office since 1918.
The Prague Castle Archive at the Office of the President of the Republic was established in 1920. The department concentrates written material and documentation relating to the Castle, its history, research, construction, repair and maintenance. The basis is made up of historical documents that originated from the activities of the offices administering Prague Castle.
