The temple stands on the site of a Romanesque basilica, the masonry of which is preserved in both towers. The church was rebuilt in the 14th century by Peter Parléř's ironworks. The side chapel dedicated to John of Nepomuk was added in 1724 - 1728 and 15 years later the church facade was Baroqueised.
