The museum is housed in the baroque building of the original Piarist schools, known as the scene of Alois Jirásek's Philosophical History. It offers a modern exhibition on the history of Litomyšl with archaeological excavations in situ, a number of unique objects and a rich children's program. It organizes short-term exhibitions.

Exposition of the history of washing techniques and photo gallery Svitavská stops. Permanent exhibition of Oskar Schindler. The museum also has exhibition panels dedicated to local architectural gems of family housing.

Tours of the Renaissance castle. The castle was built between 1568 and 1581 under Vratislav of Pernštejn. The construction was commissioned by the builders Giovanni Battista Aostalli and Ulrico Aostallis, and the decoration of the castle was mainly done by Italian masters. It is possible to organize weddings, cultural and social events.
