Museum Operations. The permanent exhibition offers an overview of the history and nature of Karlovy Vary with an emphasis on the specifics of the spa town. The museum presents living and non-living nature with reference to ecology, archaeological findings, the development of the region's settlement, the origins of towns and mining activities in the region and more.
We operate a modern visitor centre in a specially protected area, open to the public. It includes a permanent interactive exhibition about the nature and landscape of the protected area in the interior and exterior. We provide educational and training programs and tourism information.
We offer visitors a unique spectacle. Sixty perfect miniatures of important architectural and technical monuments from all over the Czech Republic are sensitively set in the natural scenery. Karlštejn Castle, Ještěd Lookout Tower or the Railway Museum in Lužná in one place.
A former tin mine. Mining has been documented here since the 16th century. In a number of areas, the walls can be seen to be pockmarked with the grooves left by the handcuffs and spikes of the miners of the time, as well as ceilings and walls stained black from soot that settled when the fire was set.
We focus on preserving and promoting 20th-century Czech art through permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, publications, and cultural and educational programs. We organize accompanying events and programs for schools.
