The main responsibility of the department is to provide and support international contacts as well as international mobility of students and staff. It also provides information to international students about study opportunities at the faculty and participates in the organisation of their studies and stay at the faculty.

We provide teaching in general zootechnics, reproduction and special zootechnics or postgraduate studies. We participate in the organization of professional seminars, conferences, breeding days, exhibitions and shows. We provide advisory and consultancy services for breeders.

We are engaged in research and development activities in the field of computer technology. We specialize in research or development in the areas of digital libraries, healthware, large-scale distributed systems, and multimedia processing. We provide services in the deployment of information and communication technologies.

The institute provides teaching of basic physics courses in engineering and undergraduate studies within the scope specified by the curricula. Doctoral studies are also offered. It provides and organises the study of Physical Engineering, which has two specialisations: engineering optics and advanced physics technologies.

The institute provides teaching in the second and higher years of undergraduate studies. It participates in the education of students in the doctoral programme in seminars and courses in the Theory of Railway Superstructure and Theory of Railway Substructure, which are focused on advanced analysis and design of these structures.

The institute provides credit, elective and recreational physical education instruction. A renovated sports hall is available for all forms of physical education. Students can use the sports facilities either within the elective subject Sport or as members of the University Sports Club of UVPS Brno.

The department's primary focus is on the prescription of physical activity as a therapeutic tool for healthy and medically compromised populations. We provide nutritional counseling for faculty students, the public, or recreational and performance athletes. We prepare professionals for the profession of nutrition counseling.

We ensure the operation and development of the university computer network and take care of the conception and development of information and communication technologies. We provide administration of agency, economic, study and library information systems or training and repair, purchase and installation of computer equipment.

We provide a new perspective on teaching and complement the curricula with the aspect of learning medical technician procedures on simulators before practice at clinical sites.

The Institute focuses on research in the field of protection against contemporary and prospective weapons of mass destruction and other major toxic compounds.

Department provides instruction in programming theory. The study specialises in algorithms and data structures, functional programming, mathematical foundations, modelling, probability in computer science or neural networks.

We provide training in optometry and orthoptics. Teaching specialises in spectacle technology, economics and business management, ophthalmic instruments, geometric optics, contact lenses. It also deals with medical first aid, the manufacture of optical aids or the basics of pedagogy and education.
