The Centre profiles itself as a research institution of the Departments of Education for Citizenship and Music Education of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ostrava and develops one of the priority directions of research at the Faculty of Education under the title: culture - identity - region.

The company is one of the Czech institutions in the field of applied research in regional sciences. It carries out evaluations of operational programmes, strategies and projects. It produces strategic and conceptual documents for ministries, regions and cities.

We operate an institute engaged in research and application of fuzzy modeling. We are engaged in the development of new algorithms for global optimization problems or improvement of software tools for fuzzy modeling of complex processes. We try to extend and improve existing fuzzy modeling methods.

The Centre focuses on research on linguistic phenomena characteristic of English and German professional language and on research on professional discourse. We deal with additional, extension and specialisation studies. We focus on research activities in the field of complementary educational studies in education. We develop study materials and carry out innovations in the specialisation study of school management and educational counselling.

The department focuses on the knowledge, understanding and management of technological and natural hazards. It carries out research in the field of risk analysis methodology. Provides contract processing for the public sector and private enterprises, and support for teaching in the Faculty of Safety Engineering.

Providing advanced supercomputing technology and services to teams in academia and industry. We operate two supercomputers. Topics include data processing and analysis, development of parallel scalable algorithms, engineering problem solving, modeling for nanotechnology.

The Centre is focused on research, support and development of science gifted pupils living and studying in the Moravian-Silesian Region. We also support teachers, assistants and parents of the gifted, as well as those who meet them in many other activities.

We are a research institute of higher education. We focus on research and development in the field of feedstock transformation, especially in waste and alternative fuels. On usable forms of energy and their subsequent efficient use.
