The laboratory is engaged in research and development activities in the field of engineering and metallurgy.

The institute is mainly focused on history in the period from the early modern period to the Second World War. It conducts basic research in the field of Czech, Czechoslovak and general history and is part of a network of domestic and foreign scientific, research and higher education institutions.

We offer testing of forming machines and verification of safety parameters. In particular: measurement of selected technical parameters of products, certification of products, conformity assessment of products, inspection activities, assessment of functional characteristics of products, assessment of compliance with standards and regulations in force abroad.

We run a cabinet dealing with research in theatre and drama theory. We focus on the documentation and analysis of the work of Brno studio theatres, issues of performativity, analysis of production in theoretical terms or stage design.

The laboratory is devoted to research on molecular physiology of plants and analysis of biologically significant molecular complexes. It also specialises in the molecular basis of cellular and tissue regulation or plant hormones. We use biological, biochemical, biophysical and genetic techniques for our research.

We specialize in research on social and cultural phenomena related to nations and ethnic groups. Currently, the Institute of Ethnology consists of three research departments (historical ethnology, ethnic studies, ethnomusicology) and a scientific information department.

The department deals with the determination of the chemical composition and structure of substances, develops methods for the analysis of macro and micro objects of various natures. It also specialises in inorganic and organic analyses and bioanalytics or analyses for production processes, in the input, intermediate and output control of raw materials.

The department provides instruction in chemistry with a focus on organic chemistry. Conducts research focused on synthesis methods, reaction cyclization, reaction mechanism, or reactivity of heterocyclic systems.

Providing teaching of basic chemistry disciplines for students of bachelor studies with a focus on chemistry, biology, geology and physics and for students of chemistry teaching. The department conducts research in the areas of nitrogen, fluorine, phosphorus, sulphur, selenium and hafnium compounds or molecular structure.

Department preserves cultures of bacteria and fungi for basic and applied research, industrial use, biotechnology and teaching. Research focuses on the taxonomy of Gram-positive and Gram-negative rods or cocci, aquatic hyphomycetes. The collection contains strains of bacteria and filamentous fungi.

We are engaged in scientific research in the field of analytical chemistry, in particular research on analytical and bioanalytical micromethods, nanomethods and methods for the determination of trace concentrations of substances and the development of instrumentation as a basis for increasing the knowledge and methodological level of other scientific disciplines.
