We are a sociological research organisation. We are devoted to analytical projects mainly in the fields of education, social problems and public policy.

We run an institute focusing on the theory and history of Czech literature from the earliest period to the present. We provide basic research on Czech literature in linguistic and territorial delimitation. We focus on literary history, theory of literature, research on literary culture or literary lexicography.

We carry out research in elementary particle physics, condensed matter systems, solids, optics and plasma. We carry out research work in the field of elementary particles in the framework of large international collaborations. We are involved in astroparticle physics. We work on the interaction of laser radiation with matter.

We are engaged in research on the composition and evolution of inanimate nature. We have a laboratory of analytical methods, environmental geology and geochemistry, geological processes, palaeobiology, palaeoecology and palaeomagnetism.
