We research the relationship between health and physical activity or sport. In particular, we focus on the development and validation of biomedical technologies and methodologies that provide information on the responses and manifestations of adaptations to physical loading. We provide advice on clinical and sports nutrition.

The laboratory is a research facility in the field of exercise and sports physiology. We cooperate with domestic and foreign institutions. We deal with the issues of sports training management and evaluation of the state of the musculoskeletal system.

We are engaged in research of the Czech language and its history. We focus on the field of linguistics of text and rhetoric, speech communication or speech acts. We produce spelling rules, dictionaries, phrasebooks, popular science literature and professional publications.

Scientific research in the field of Paleolinguistics and Byzantine Studies, lexicography of contemporary Slavic languages and history of Slavic Studies.

SOÚ AV ČR develops sociological theories and methodology of contemporary sociological research. It conducts one-off and repeated empirical surveys, comparative research, case studies, probes and public opinion polls.
