The institution focuses on the comprehensive preparation and formation of future clergy for the Catholic Church. It provides for the human, spiritual and pastoral development of theology students and offers courses in vocational discernment for young men. It also organizes retreats, retreats for priests and educational workshops.

The institution is a body under the direct authority of the Minister of Defence for planning and coordinating his work programme. It comprehensively ensures and coordinates protocol activities.

The Authority is legally responsible for defence standardisation, cataloguing and state quality verification of products and services intended to ensure national defence.
