The first written report dates back to 1131. The village is located at an altitude of 177 metres. We have a kindergarten, a fishing association or a Roman Catholic parish. We publish a newsletter. There is a cycle path through the village.

We operate a library offering Czech and foreign fiction for children and adults, poetry, travel books, educational literature, biographies and science fiction. We offer magazines Čtyřlístek, Vlasta, Grand Biblio, Generace and Receptář. We provide exchange funds and internet access.

The State Vocational Secondary School provides education in four-year courses in hotel management, ecology and environment, arts and crafts woodworking and two-year extension courses in business and mechanisation of agriculture and forestry.
