The Cistercian monks from the 13th century, the brilliant architect J. B. Santini Aichel or the current owners of the castle, the Kinský family, have written an extremely interesting history here. In the place where the Svratka River bites into the rocky peaks of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, the construction of a massive castle began in the 13th century. The castle still retains its late Gothic to Renaissance appearance. The films The Visitors, How the Princesses Wake and The Devil Knows Why were filmed here.

We provide exhibitions and lectures. We are dedicated to organizing programs for children and schools, concerts, competitions and accompanying events. Regular visitors can use a loyalty card. A part of the zoological depository with stuffed birds, mammals, fish and amphibians and trophies from hunting expeditions is open to the public.
