The Wittal family’s functionalist villa was built in 1932 based on a design by architect Heinrich Blum. Over time, the Wittal family home became the residence of Nazi officers, later of Communist city officials, and eventually an apartment building. Gallery Pravek through the eyes of Zdeněk Burian in the ZOO area presents 84 original paintings. In four passage halls you will gradually get acquainted with the history of the Protohistoric, Protohistoric, Mesozoic, Tertiary and Quaternary. The Mahen Memorial is a unique multifunctional place and was created not only as a reminder of the life and work of Jiří Mahen, but also as a realization of his ideas about the library as a cultural and community centre.
