The memorial focuses not only on the life and work of the two literary greats, but also on folklore and local traditions to which both brothers had a close relationship and often used in their work.

The memorial was built in honour of the victims of the Battle of Austerlitz, as intended by the priest and teacher Alois Slovák in fulfilment of his vision to make the centre of the former battlefield. The world's unique museum is Krýz's crib, the largest folk mechanical nativity scene in the world, which has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records since 1998. Other equally interesting exhibitions include the Emma Destinn Hall and the Battle of Jindřichův Hradec Králové.
The museum can be found in the Renaissance scholastery in the main square. It preserves and documents the memory of the eastern Brno region. It prepares thematically diverse exhibitions for its visitors, always accompanied by a playroom or a programme for children.
The centre offers wine and spirit trail tastings, a conference room for 30 people, distillery tours, a museum of winemaking and distilling, and a café with wine bar.
The Botany Department deals with systematics and phytogeography of higher plants, fungi and bryophytes. It carries out documentation of these systematic groups with emphasis on Central and Southern Europe. The library and herbarium are open to the professional public. The services of the Mushroom Advisory Service are available to the general public.
The memorial in the baroque grounds makes a rich literary tradition accessible and popular. Permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions can be found here. It takes expert care not only of the books of the Benedictines, but also of the library of the parent Museum of Brno and, last but not least, of its own collections.
