The museum not only traces the interesting 700+ year history of the town, but above all focuses on the origin, processing and use of slate, which is characteristic of our area.

We are a contributory organization of the Moravian-Silesian Region, combining the mission of a regional museum and the administration of monuments, which are important immovable cultural monuments of northern Moravia - Bruntál Castle, Sovinec Castle and the mowing plant in Karlovice in Silesia. The museum is located in the Bruntál castle.

The museum exhibits exhibits donated directly by the citizens of the village, as well as those from the former flax mill and the Research Institute of Flax in Šumperk. Another important role in the history of the village is played by slate, about which you can learn a lot of information in the museum.

In the museum you will find everything related to pitchforks, rednecks and redneckism. Currently, the museum has over 1,000 exhibits in several expositions. You can throw a pitchfork at a target. If you donate a pitchfork in any form and state of wear, you will receive the title of a hillbilly with a certificate.

Running an exhibition that reminds people how ordinary people lived and worked in the countryside. It displays everyday objects as well as unusual tools and instruments, such as a lever or crank washing machine or the Razum family's unique stamping machine. One room is dedicated to Count Camillo Razumovsky.

Currently, the museum offers a number of interesting exhibitions about the Rýmařov region. It depicts the history of the region from prehistoric times to the 19th century, textile industry, metal mining, geology of southern Jesenik. Expositions include a number of unique items such as gold smelting plates. Lectures and cultural events.

We offer experiential tours including visits to restored Baroque halls, a monumental church, monastery cellars, paintings by Baroque painter J. K. Handke and contemporary artists, a puppet theatre and much more. Tours include a presentation of organs, pianos and other musical instruments.

The permanent Time Exposition officially opened in 2011, continuing the city's tradition of being known as the "City of Clocks." The Exposition of Time is a captivating story of the history of the Earth and our civilization. The motto - From the Big Bang to the Atomic Clock - is a fun and educational experience for young and old alike.
