The castle was founded sometime in the late 13th century during the last Přemyslids' colonization of the still sparsely populated border forest of northeast Bohemia, which was a royal property. Historical building of the parish complex from the end of the 17th century, which is under conservation protection. It is a two-storey house built in the Baroque style, which, together with the outbuildings, is surrounded by a large garden with the remains of the original stone wall. The association organises cultural and educational activities for the public.

The chateau in Rokytnice in the Orlické Mountains was the ancestral seat of the Nostitz-Rieneck family for 300 years. In the 20th century, the castle was not favoured by fate. Today, the castle is once again in private ownership with the intention of returning the grounds to their original status as a noble residence.
