History of Belsk to the 19th century. The museum was founded at the turn of 1906 and 1907. It was preceded by years of hard work by many amateur and professional enthusiasts, researchers and Czech patriots who had been active in the region since the 19th century.

Jan Palach's birth house with a small garden has seen a lot. It was created here as a place of memory of the person and deed of Jan Palach. The memorial symbolizes self-immolation as a wedge that divided society and deeply affected the fate of his entire family.
