A permanent exhibition commemorating the history of the museum and the town. The founder was Ing. Jindřich Soukal. The museum was located in two rooms of the District House on the square in Venice I. As the first event, an exhibition of paintings was organized, combined with a demonstration of the first donated objects.

The castle in Venice nad Jizerou was built at the beginning of the 16th century on the ruins of a Cyriac monastery. From the end of the 16th century come artistically valuable sgraffiti, which decorate part of the facade.

In the basement of the execution room there is an exhibition dedicated to the law of throat and torture and the history of crime in cities in the 16th to 18th centuries. In the second part of the exposition, a torture chamber is installed, equipped with objects used for securing prisoners and for torture.
