Gothic Kašperk, founded in 1356 by Charles IV, is the highest royal castle in Bohemia. It offers guided tours (entry with dogs allowed) and a freely accessible courtyard with seating and refreshments. The castle is alive with culture, especially theatre and events.

The museum has a permanent exhibition dedicated to nature, history and life of the inhabitants of Šumava.
