Conducting sociological analyses of contemporary society. Participation in the development of the interdisciplinary scientific field of gender studies, feminist theory and feminist sociological methodology and in the implementation of the concept of equal opportunities for men and women in the Czech Republic.

SOÚ AV ČR develops sociological theories and methodology of contemporary sociological research. It conducts one-off and repeated empirical surveys, comparative research, case studies, probes and public opinion polls.

The National Centre makes available electronic datasets from social research surveys. The data are intended for further analytical processing. Cooperation in the organization of large-scale research surveys. The main activity of the Centre is the acquisition, archiving and access to Czech research datasets.

Operation of a library focusing on specialist literature in the social sciences, philosophy, gender studies, psychology, economics. Includes a study room with computers and internet access. A photocopier and printer are available. Books can be borrowed by attendance and absentee loans.
