The first written report dates back to 1037. The village is located at an altitude of 233 metres. We organize cultural events. We publish a municipal newsletter. There is a Benedictine monastery. The St. John's Circle and Karlstejn Nature Trail pass through the village.

The aim of the association is the preservation and improvement of monuments. Our main mission has been to help repair and preserve St. John's monuments. The Society also plays a major part in organising cultural and social events in the village. From the very beginning, it has worked closely with the municipal council.
