Providing library services specialising in natural history and art history writings. Part of the library's collection is the Silesiak Collection. We lend books in the fields of history, ethnography, philosophy, sociology, archaeology, political science, geology and numismatics.

You will find here an extensive collection of prints of the evangelical priest Jiří Třanovský, a collection of Kramář prints, a collection of plebiscite prints and a collection of Czech, Polish and German Silesian prints. The library participates in the preparation of exhibitions or lectures for schools and the public.

The library manages more than 400,000 specialized publications and periodicals in social sciences, arts and sciences. It provides its services not only to the museum staff but also to the general public. Most of the literature is intended for full-time study only.

We operate a library with reference books and collections. Books are lent out by appointment. Here you will find the libraries of Gelastova, the Herites family, part of the library of the Wet family, Josef Holecek and the founders of the Žahour family as well as the poet Miloš Tůma. There is also a research room.

We offer library services focusing on specialized literature such as Czech and foreign ornithology and periodicals including all branches of natural sciences, paleontology or information on exotic animal husbandry. We also lend out journals and separates.
