The museum not only traces the interesting 700+ year history of the town, but above all focuses on the origin, processing and use of slate, which is characteristic of our area.

The museum was opened on 1 July 2014. There are photographs and objects relating to the pre-war and post-war history of the village, the local castle, the brewery, as well as the everyday life of the local inhabitants.

It depicts the history of the region from prehistoric times to the 19th century, textile industry, metal mining, geology of southern Jesenik. The chateau is part of the castle complex. The castle in a spectacular neo-Gothic style of masonry, complemented by an imposing entrance gate, practically doubles the size of the castle grounds.

The Memorial to a Life Tragedy serves as a permanent reminder of the victims of Nazi atrocities. The Mother Monument, unveiled in 1949, is also a memento of all the victims of the occupation. A building was erected at the memorial in 1982-1984 and houses a permanent museum exhibition.

If you donate a pitchfork in any form and state of wear, you will receive the title of a hillbilly with a certificate.
