The Musical and Dramatic Laboratory is a new theatre venue of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. We operate a theatre that primarily serves the needs of student musical theatre, i.e. opera and musical.

Our theatre offers a wide range of performances, from bitter comedies to unique musical performances by four professional musicians. We look forward to seeing you at our slapstick shows, sitcoms and exciting guest events. Join us for an unforgettable moment of art and entertainment.

Professional four-ensemble theatre plays for adult and children audiences on its permanent stages (South Bohemian Theatre building, Small Theatre, DK Metropol) and in front of the Rotating Auditorium in Český Krumlov. The theatre consists of drama, opera and ballet companies, the Little Theatre company and the interactive Atelier 3D.

The theatre is a large drama theatre with a rich artistic tradition, an excellent acting ensemble and a varied repertoire of genres for everyone to choose from. In the intimate Studio Stage we present original Czech and Slovak plays as part of the Czech and Slovak Chamber Play series.

In our theatre we offer unique original productions that touch on social issues such as the crisis of fatherhood. We present famous works, such as the comedy Uncle Vanya or the novelty The Gardener. We look forward to your visit and to sharing the experience of our performances.
