The chateau was built as a castle in the middle of the 13th century, the extensive Renaissance reconstruction was carried out in the 17th century by the Novohradský family from Kolovrat. The oldest preserved part of the castle is the Vlček Tower. The last major reconstruction was carried out after the extensive fire of the Upper Castle in 1857.

The Prácheň Museum has been housed in the historic building of the former royal castle since 1902. The museum represents the cultural and natural heritage of the Prague Region and Písek. Accommodation capacity is 23 beds in five apartments, with extra beds 30 beds including a bedroom at the hall. Each apartment is equipped with its own toilet, bathroom and kitchenette. There is Wi-Fi connection, conference hall and parking. We offer the possibility of catering.

For rentals we can provide complete technology, catering and cleaning. We are also happy to help with the actual organization or promotion of the event.

We run a gallery where we exhibit works of Czech artists. The premises can also be used for small cultural programs, festive occasions such as graduation ceremonies, specific talks for a small group of visitors and more.
