We operate a museum focusing on education and education issues. In addition to the permanent exhibition, we also organise short-term exhibitions. We are a research centre focused on the history of Czech education, pedagogy, teaching and education in relation to the life, work and legacy of J. A. Comenius.
The neoclassical palace-type house was built in 1845-1847. The painted decoration of the palace is one of the most important works of Czech mural painting of the mid-19th century. The Desfours Palace is closed for planned reconstruction.
The museum presents visitors with exhibitions and displays, workshops for children and adults, a park with sculptures and rare trees. The castle was the location of the film The Queen's Game. We also exhibit the studio of Zdenka Braunerová. We organize cultural and social events. We carry out conservation and restoration of monuments.
The museum documents the mining of iron ore in the Nučica area. The exhibits remind the history of the village, the history of social, sports and other organizations or associations. There is also a gallery of paintings and works by Professor Arnošt Paderlík, a native and honorary citizen of Nučice.
Homeland history exhibition for the Prague-West district, specialising in gold mining in the Czech Republic. Possibility to visit a mine adit from the times of gold mining. Visitors can use an educational trail. We are also engaged in publishing activities. It is possible to rent a multipurpose hall with a capacity of 120 people.
The permanent exhibition presents the history of Velvar and its surroundings. The museum organises short-term exhibitions, cultural and educational events, children's programmes and poetry days. Tourist stamps, business cards and Czech tourist cards available for purchase.
