The permanent exhibition presents the history of Velvar and its surroundings. The museum organises short-term exhibitions, cultural and educational events, children's programmes and poetry days. Tourist stamps, business cards and Czech tourist cards available for purchase.

In the premises of three historical houses, on an area of over 1000 m2, the museum presents and maps the history of chocolate, its cultivation, import to Europe and subsequent processing into the form of candies, bars, pralines, figurines. The second part of the museum is dedicated to marzipan and the possibilities of its processing.

Visitors can see an exhibition presenting the existence of the Jewish community in Podorlicek. In one of the local Jewish families in Rychnov n. K., the writer and journalist Karel Poláček, author of the book There Were Five of Us, was born in 1892.

The museum is located in the building of the former Minorite monastery. In an unused underground passageway under the town office, visitors will be reminded of the history of the Richard Limestone Mine, which was written in three periods. The exhibition traces the period of the limestone mine, the underground factory and the radioactive waste repository.

In the building of the former municipal weighing scale there is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the deportations of Jews to Terezín and the deportations from the Terezín ghetto to the labour camps and especially to the extermination camps. The exhibition is not open all the time and can only be visited by appointment.
