The Museum of the Bohemian Countryside, a branch of the National Museum of Agriculture, is housed in Kačina Castle, one of the most important Empire buildings in the Czech Republic. The castle is one of the oldest castles in Bohemia and is still owned by the Sternberg family, who founded it in 1241. Originally a Gothic castle, it was rebuilt several times, especially in the Baroque period, when its interiors took on an almost castle-like appearance.
