The lookout tower was built for the Provincial Jubilee Exhibition in 1891 on the initiative of the founders of the Czech Tourist Club: Dr. Vilém Kurz and arch. V.V. Kurz and Vratislav Pasovský. The taller of the two towers standing on the banks of the Vltava River is the youngest part of the entire Charles Bridge. It was built after 1464 at the expense of the Czech King George of Poděbrady on the site of an older Romanesque tower, which was built together with the lower tower.
