The department provides teaching of subjects dealing with the fundamentals of mechanical engineering and technical drawing in all forms of study in the Faculty of Engineering. The Department is engaged in theoretical and experimental research on the static and dynamic properties of rubber machine elements with application to flexible rail pads.

The department provides instruction in courses in mathematics, descriptive geometry, numerical methods, probability, statistics, computing and algorithmization.

Teaching in the design of robots and their peripherals, design of robotic workplaces and mathematical models of kinematics and dynamics. We offer a structured model of study in Bachelor and Master studies compatible with the European ECTS system.

Providing advanced supercomputing technology and services to teams in academia and industry. We operate two supercomputers. Topics include data processing and analysis, development of parallel scalable algorithms, engineering problem solving, modeling for nanotechnology.

In the field of study, the student acquires knowledge of mathematical and physical analysis of metallurgical processes, the theory and means of measurement and automatic control, methods of identification, simulation and optimization of technological processes and learns to work with computer technology.

The department provides training for students in metallurgy, materials, chemical and physical engineering, raw materials and water treatment and fire protection. The Department sponsors the Master's degree programme in Process Engineering, the degree programme in Chemical Engineering and the PhD degree programme in Chemical Metallurgy.

We are a research institute of higher education. We focus on research and development in the field of feedstock transformation, especially in waste and alternative fuels. On usable forms of energy and their subsequent efficient use.

We operate an endowment fund that represents the financial support of the University of Mines - Technical University. We want to enable students in the region to obtain higher education in technical and economic fields and find employment in regional companies.
