Teaching in physiology with a focus on the electrophysiology of the heart cell, the physiology of blood circulation regulation in humans and the neurophysiology of behaviour. We also specialise in general and dental medicine, physiotherapy, biomedical technology, optometry or nutritional therapy.

The institute provides teaching in theoretical physics, astrophysics and physics education. It also specialises in geometric methods, mathematical foundations of physical variational theories, mechanics and molecular physics, linear algebra and geometry or quantum physics of atomic systems.

We perform analysis of solid samples by laser ablation in conjunction with atomic spectrometry, development of plasma excitation sources for spectrochemical analysis and diagnostics of analytical plasmas. For research we use laser ablation systems, ICP-OES spectrometers, ICP-MS spectrometer and monochromator.

Teaching in the field of histology and embryology. We carry out research.

Offering undergraduate, masters and doctoral studies in computer science in core disciplines and a range of specializations. We provide studies in information technology, computer systems, communications, graphics and design or programming. We carry out publishing and research activities.

Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in theatre theory and history. We conduct research on ancient drama and theatre, medieval theatre, Czech translations of William Shakespeare, Czech drama and drama theatre, or trends in modern and postmodern scenography.

Preparation of future teachers of general education subjects of a technical nature. The study specialises in the management of computer technology and advice on its use for other teachers, the creation of the school's website, the publication of the school magazine or the management of technical extra-curricular activities.

We offer training for future physics teachers, focusing on the basics of general physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, computer work and modelling of physical situations. The department specializes in inorganic and organic chemistry, biochemistry, laboratory technology or chemical calculations.

We prepare future history teachers. The study focuses primarily on general and national history from prehistory to the present and the didactics of history, including teaching practice. We carry out scientific activities in the field of Slavic and Czech medieval archaeology, history of foreign Bohemians or regional history.

The Institute provides teaching of geological and related natural and social science disciplines and scientific research and development in selected areas of geology. Research also specialises in igneous and transformed rocks, geochemistry and hydrogeology, engineering building materials or geoarchaeology and the Quaternary.

Interfaculty department providing educational activities in applied data analysis and information technology applications for biological and clinical disciplines. The institute specializes in biological and clinical data analysis, clinical trial organization and management, or software development.
